I was given a copy of this book for review from Harlequin Teen and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

* This review was originally published on the blog in December of 2011, However it had very few page views and no comments. Since I have the next 2 books in the series now for review I wanted to re-share this original review with you in preparation!

" Hon you live in the post-Harry Potter world, where you teens think magic is awesome. I lived in the pre- Harry Potter times. I was witchy when whitchy wasn't cool."

Savannah Colbert has never known why she’s so hated by the kids of the Clann. Nor can she deny her instinct to get close to Clann golden boy Tristan Coleman. Especially when she recovers from a strange illness and the attraction becomes nearly irresistible. It’s as if he’s a magnet, pulling her gaze, her thoughts, even her dreams. Her family has warned her to have nothing to do with him, or any members of the Clann. But when Tristan is suddenly everywhere she goes, Savannah fears she’s destined to fail.

For years, Tristan has been forbidden to even speak to Savannah Colbert. Then Savannah disappears from school for a week and comes back…different, and suddenly he can’t stay away. Boys seem intoxicated just from looking at her. His own family becomes stricter than ever. And Tristan has to fight his own urge to protect her, to be near her no matter the consequences…

A Forbidden love.. Sounds very Cliche right? Been there, read that. But now add in the twist, The Female love interest is a Damphir ( A half Vampire half human, that should not exist. ) Add onto that part Witch! The Male love interest is a Witch, son to the Leader of the Clann.
I have to say, I was hesitant of the twist. It seemed to complicated to me. But I ended up really enjoying it. It was nice to have the female character be the dangerous one in the relationship. And with Savannah constantly learning new things about herself, I kept wondering what might happen next.
Tristan was a great character as well. He doesn't want all the power that comes with being part of the Clann or son of the leader. He just wants to play football and lead as normal a life as he can. But when he feels Savannah is in danger he searches for a way to help, while not fully giving in to his families wishes.
The book starts out gripping with curiosities.. then.. it starts to drag a bit. you learn alot about Savannah's school life and new " friends" .. this goes on for awhile.. sigh. It felt very unneeded and was hard for me to get through. This is the only part that really bothered me about the story. But then FINALLY it gets to the nitty gritty. And OH how I loved it. Tristan and Savannah going against everything they have been told, trying to forget who their families are and What they are, and simply wanting to be together.
The ending is intense, and leaves you wanting more, and then of course I read the 1st chapter in the second book and now I'm regretting it! sooo impatient lol
Rating: 4/5
Big thank you to Harlequin Teen and Netgalley for letting me read this book!

James Dashner

The Death Cure written by James Dashner No, really, what did I read and why ?  James Dashner, what, what, what are you doing?  There are a few cool reveals along the way, but as far as books go, this was not a satisfying conclusion to a trilogy.  We get answers, but the one thing I wanted to know most of all (Thomas' past) remains a mystery.  It felt like most of this book was pointless action that dragged on for no reason, so even though there were things happening, it felt like nothing was happening at all.  The plot was not advanced.  It was violence for the sake of violence.  Theresa and Thomas were, at this point, the only two characters I cared about, and Teresa barely showed up at all in the entirety of the story.  The ending was rushed, and yes, I enjoyed the few twists we got at the very  end (the last page ), but come on.  This was a story that needed answers and plot twists and instead, we got epic battle scenes that I didn't ...

The Van Alen Legacy

The Van Alen Legacy written by Melissa de la Cruz So, I'd firstly like to address the fact that this is not the last book of the series . I don't know why I was led to believe that it was, but let me tell you, it is a huge disappointment to read a book and discover that the saga is still not over when you've finished. I kind of just want to see this series end. I stand by what I said last time, I'm in it for the plot. I do have to commend de la Cruz, as I thought her writing had definitely improved significantly in this book. But it's still a lot of "ooh, look how fancy we are" and not that much substance, and what substance it does have, it moves excruciatingly slowly. I did feel like a lot of what happened, happened too conveniently, too much like wish fulfillment for all of the characters, tied up way too nicely. I'm still sick of the fact that Jack Force...exists. I do suppose that the fact that I feel so strongly about the characters mea...
