Tomorrow by C.K. Kelly Martin BLOG TOUR

Release date: October 10th 2013
Publisher: Random House

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
The sci-fi adventure that began with Yesterday continues with a thriller that can also be read as a standalone.

2063, United North America: climate change has rendered great swathes of the country uninhabitable, the rise of robot workers has created mass unemployment, eco-terrorism is a constant threat and a 2059 nuclear exchange between Pakistan and India has torn large holes in the world's ozone layer and pushed humanity's existence towards a cliff.

Garren and Freya have managed to escape that nightmare world and lose themselves in 1986 Vancouver. But the future's reach is long, and they're no longer safe there. No one is. Shadowy forces are intent on influencing the past's path. And when Freya is taken, it's up to Garren to save both her, and the future.

Review:

Tomorrow is a fast paced and thrilling read with a unique dystopian setting.  It is definitely very different than what is out there, which is very appealing to me and all those dystopian lovers.  The story jumps back and forth between the world in 1986 and the word that was/is in 2063.  I did not read Yesterday so it took me a bit to get everything straight but after a few chapters I had a good understanding of the story.  I would say to start with Yesterday if you can but if you don't, Tomorrow is a great book by itself.

I think my favorite part about this book was the 1980's part.  I really enjoyed seeing how the forces changed major happenings during this time.  What an interesting take on a dystopian tale!  This book can easily be read and written off as a fairly good book.  BUT, if you read it and take a minute or two to think about the underlying implications of this book it's quite exquisite.  The government has completely taken over the world and robot workers have taken the place of humans. This seems completely plausible in our current situation.  Technology has become  a necessity to us; will there be a point when it too will take over?

I will definitely be going back and reading Yesterday as soon as possible.  I would suggest this book to dystopian lovers but also to readers that would love a little 1980's nostalgia.

Favorite Quotes:

The past doesn't want to let go, but the future demands to be born.

Ready for the next seventy years or however long our bodies will give us.  Ready to live my life.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
C.K. Kelly Martin always thought she'd get around to writing in earnest eventually and began writing her first novel in a flat in Dublin, finishing it in a Toronto suburb. By then she'd discovered that young adult fiction felt the freshest and most exciting to her. You have most of your life to be an adult but you only grow up once!
Martin currently resides near Toronto with her Dub husband. She became an Irish citizen in 2001 and continues to visit Dublin often (although not as often as she'd like!) while working on teen novels.
